“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Je’sus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spir’-it in the inner man.”
We are named after Christ. Christian means ‘little Christ’. We bear his name in this world to be a reflection of who he is. That when lost souls look at us, they would see Jesus and be directed to him through us.
Nowadays the term Christian is simply used as a label for religion and that’s it. It never goes deeper than that. More and more I notice that the people who label themselves as a Christian, are only a Christian in words alone. Their words are empty and their actions don’t show fruits of the spirit. Skin deep Christians don’t seek to magnify Christ and are quick to judge and tear down other people.
It should be a daily prayer that we would be more than a skin deep Christian. That we would call upon the Lord to strengthen and renew our inner man, that we would walk in the spirit and not our flesh. That we would be faithful to his calling and be a true reflection of who Christ is. God doesn’t want us to be a skin deep, lukewarm Christian (Revelation 3: 15-16).
Are you seeking his strength? Are you magnifying his name?
