“It is the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Because we have a merciful God, we have the ability to walk on this earth each day. He fills our lungs with breath, we get to open our eyes each new day, we have a home and family to call our own! What a merciful God! We don’t deserve any of the blessings we have received, or the life we get to experience. We are not worthy of the grace and love of God, but because of his immense love for us, we get to receive from him these amazing gifts!
Every day, as we open our eyes and start the new day, we get to receive the gift of new mercy. It starts over. It refreshes. We don’t have to worry about living the new day with yesterday’s mercies. Or that we’ll use our quota of mercy for the day. It starts over and is limitless! When we dwell on the mistakes and mercies of yesterday, we are not accepting the gift of new mercies for the new day. We are telling God that we don’t trust that he’s capable of fulfilling his promise of forgiveness. That we don’t think his grace and mercy is enough.
We have a gracious and compassionate God. He is capable of any and all things. We don’t need to be prideful or to ashamed to accept his mercy that he willingly extends to us each and every day! Trust that his mercy is enough!
