“Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
Have you ever found yourself longing for something more? Maybe it’s a season of waiting, a deep desire yet to be fulfilled, or simply a restlessness in your heart. It’s easy to believe that if we could just have that one thing—a new job, a relationship, financial security—then we’d finally be content. But Scripture reminds us that true fulfillment isn’t found in what we have; it’s found in who we trust!
Psalm 37:3 tells us to trust in the Lord and do good. Contentment begins with trust—believing that God is in control, that He is working for our good, and that His timing is always perfect. When we trust Him, we can rest in the assurance that He will provide exactly what we need. But trust isn’t passive. This verse also calls us to do good—to live faithfully, serve others, and focus on His kingdom instead of worrying about what we lack. When we align our lives with His purposes, we find peace in knowing that He will take care of us!
Verse 4 gives us a beautiful promise: “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” This doesn’t mean that God will give us everything we want, but rather that as we draw near to Him, He shapes our desires to align with His will.
Delighting in the Lord means:
✅ Spending time in His Word and prayer
✅ Seeking His presence above earthly pleasures
✅ Trusting that His plan is better than ours
When our joy is rooted in Christ, we stop striving for contentment in worldly things. Instead, we find that He is our deepest desire.
Christian contentment isn’t about settling for less—it’s about receiving the best that God has for us. When we trust in Him and delight in His presence, we experience a peace and joy that nothing in this world can match. So today, let’s choose to trust instead of worry, to delight instead of strive, and to rest in the truth that God is enough.
How has God shown you His faithfulness in seasons of waiting?
