“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

When life feels overwhelming, and the weight of trials and struggles threatens to break us, we need more than just willpower. We need strength that goes beyond what we can muster in our own flesh. We need the strength of the Lord!

The first part of this verse gives us a clear directive: “Be strong in the Lord.” Notice it doesn’t say, “Be strong on your own” or “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps.” The strength we need comes from the Lord! It’s a divine strength, available to us through His grace, not a strength that we can conjure from our own reserves. The world will often tell us to rely on our own abilities, pushing us to dig deep within ourselves for strength. But as believers, we know the battle is not ours to fight alone! God equips us with the strength to stand firm, even when circumstances feel impossible.

Paul doesn’t stop with just “be strong in the Lord.” He further emphasizes that we are to rely on the power of His might. This is a reminder that God’s might is immeasurable and unshakable. He isn’t just powerful in some areas of life—He is powerful in all things. His might isn’t limited by time, resources, or circumstances. It’s an all-encompassing power that can bring peace to our hearts and victory to our battles!

When we focus on God’s power rather than our own weakness, we shift our perspective from fear to faith. The more we meditate on His strength, the more we realize that the power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that strengthens us in our daily battles!

As we go through the challenges of life, the temptation to rely on our own strength is constant. But what happens when we lean into God’s strength instead of trying to muster our own? We find that the weight becomes lighter, the struggle less overwhelming, and the peace more enduring.

Being strong in the Lord doesn’t mean we won’t face trials—it means we don’t face them alone! It means we are walking in the strength of an almighty God who goes before us, fights for us, and upholds us with His righteous right hand!
