“These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Have you ever faced a season where the weight of the world felt unbearable? Maybe it’s a loss you never expected, a battle you didn’t ask for, or an uncertainty that keeps you up at night. Life has a way of throwing storms our way, but Jesus knew this would happen—and He gave us a promise to hold onto.
Jesus never sugarcoated reality. He said plainly, “In the world ye shall have tribulation.” That means hardships aren’t a possibility; they’re a certainty. But before fear settles in, look at what He says next:
“But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” That’s the hope we cling to! No matter how fierce the storm, Jesus has already conquered it. He is greater than every fear, every diagnosis, every heartache. And in Him, we can have peace—not because life is easy, but because He is with us.
It’s one thing to read about God’s peace, but how do we actually live in it when life feels overwhelming? We need to stay in His presence, trust His victory, and shift your focus. When we spend time in prayer, worship, and His Word, our hearts align with His, and anxiety loses its grip. Whatever you’re facing today, Jesus has already overcome it! The world will always give us reasons to fear. But Jesus tells us to be of good cheer. Why? Because our joy isn’t based on this world—it’s based on the unshakable truth that we serve a God who reigns over it all!
No matter what you’re walking through, His peace is available to you right now! Not a fragile, fleeting peace, but a deep, steady peace that holds you even in the fiercest storm!
